Round 1 – Match 40
My Case for the Owlbear
Owlbears are as fascinating as they can be terrifying for lower level characters in RPG games. They represent a combination of two apex predators – fluffy and ferocious. Their large eyes may make them look adorable, but they’re just big enough to see you with, my dear. I’ve always wanted one of my RPG characters to have an owlbear as a companion so they should get that vote.
My Case for the Marilith
I remember growing up in Guelph, Ontario there used to be a video arcade on the second level of Stone Road Mall where I would pour quarters every chance I could. One of my favourite games was a fighting game where you could play a woman who had a snakes body for legs. Her hair was a wild array and she attacked ferociously! I never won, but I really liked the animation.
Beyond nostalgia, you should vote for the Marilith because they are a powerhouse. They are strong, nimble, and have 6 arms. Not only that but their magical ability as a demon is to teleport making them an unpredictable flurry. It’s no wonder that they often captain the demonic armies of the Abyss.
In a close 3 to 2 battle, the Owlbear squeaked out a win and will advance to Round 2.
